HARTFORD, Conn. - The UConn women's soccer team needed a win to have a chance to extend its season into the American Athletic Conference Tournament. For mere moments the Huskies had the euphoria of victory as Vivien Beil put the game-winning goal into the back of the net, UConn stormed out onto the field in jubilation., thinking they had pulled out a 2-1 double overtime victory against the Temple Owls but the linesmen's flag went up late and nearly 30 seconds of celebration turned into confusion and doubt. Eventually, turning into an offsides call that wiped the goal off the board and sent both teams packing into the offseason.

For the Huskies it will go down as the final moments in the American Athletic Conference as the team heads back to the Big East next season. Sadly, it is the end of the road for six seniors that gave so much to the program.

Sofia Leone, Alexa Casimiro, Shay Nakahira, Alana Moore, Regan Schiappa and Vivien Beil were celebrated prior to the game with their families out on the field.

The seniors continued to celebrate their Senior Night on the field with Beil linking up with Leone on a corner kick that Leone headed into the back of the net in the 28th minute. It was the second goal of the season and career of the Bay Shore, N.Y. native.

The Huskies held that lead until the 87th minute when the Owls capitalized on a free kick to tie the game up.

The game remained tied until the dying seconds of the second overtime, with both teams needing a win to continue their season, Termple earned a corner kick with 30 second remaining and elected to push their goalie up into the box. UConn cleared the ball away and Kess Elmore countered with a long pass ahead to Beil who slid a shot into an empty net. But offsides was called and the clock was reset to eight second remaining and ended in a 1-1 draw.

UConn closes the 2019 campaign with a 6-8-3 record and 2-5-2 mark in The American Conference.
