CINCINNATI - The UConn women's soccer team (3-2-7, 1-0-3 BIG EAST) rallied from a halftime deficit to secure a 2-2 draw at Xavier (8-2-3, 2-0-3 BIG EAST) on a rainy Saturday afternoon at Corcoran Field.

The Huskies stormed out to a lead in the sixth minute on the second goal of the season for Se-Hanna Mars. The Manchester, Conn. scored off a header that came off a corner kick that was redirected by the head of Ines Nourani that found Mars inside the six and gave UConn the early advantage.

Xavier responded quickly with a goal just over 90 seconds after the Huskies tally to even the match at one a piece.

The score remained tied until the Musketeers scored with 1:13 left in the first half. Abby Unkraut scored an olympico off the Musketeers corner kick to give Xavier the lead.

UConn responded at the start of the second half with the Huskies earning a penalty kick moments into the second stanza.

Maeve Staunton, who has two penalty kick goals this season, had her shot saved on a nice play by McKinley Berry.

UConn was able to convert and equalize in the 65th minute on the first goal of the season for Anaya Johnson. The senior captain raced in for a rebound after Mars ripped a shot that carromed off the keeper and fell right to Johnson. The Brampton, Ontario native buried the shot and made it a 2-2 game.

Both teams went back and forth over the remaining 25 minutes but the two sides were unable to reclaim the lead.

The draw extends the Huskies unbeaten streak to five consecutive games (1-0-4).

UConn will return home next Saturday, October 17 for Senior Day at 6:30 p.m. against DePaul.
