STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's soccer team announced the signing of Giancarlo Vaccaro to a National Letter of Intent on the afternoon of National Signing Day. Vaccaro is the first member of the class of 2024, and will begin his UConn soccer career in the fall of 2020.
"We're very excited to have Giancarlo join the UConn family," said 23rd-year head coach Ray Reid. "He will bring a lot to the table, both on and off the field."
Associate head coach Mike Miller also offered his thoughts on the addition of Vacarro to the men's soccer program. "Giancarlo is a very dynamic and crafty winger who will provide our team with goals and assists during his time here in Storrs," said Miller. "He comes to UConn from the Vaughn Soccer Club, a program that has provided us with top players like Dayonn Harris and Munir Saleh. We are very excited to welcome him to the UConn Soccer family."
Most recently, Giancarlo was selected as a member of the Team Ontario U21 CPL team that will compete in the CPL's U-21 Showcase Match against Team Quebec. The match features the best under-21 players from across both provinces, and will be played the morning of Saturday, November 9.
