CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The UConn men's tennis team got their spring schedule underway on Tuesday afternoon falling at Boston College, 7-0 at the Flynn Complex.
"The guys played well for the first match of the year," stated associate head coach Reinaldo Valor. "We had opportunity to win the doubles points but couldn't close it out. In Singles Jack and John Michael were in control of there matches winning the first sets. Overall it was a good effort but we will need to raise our level to reach our goals."
Sophomore John Michael Holtmann (Coral Gables, Fla.) lost a tough three-setter at No. 2 to Markus Nordby. Holtmann took the first set 6-3 but fell 6-2 and 6-3 to Nordby. At No. 4, senior Jack McLister (Leesburg, Va.) also suffered a three-set loss after winning the first set. McLister beat Sean Mullins 7-5 in the first but lost 6-3 and 7-6 in the third to come up short.
The Huskies will head down south for the weekend playing three matches in Georgia when they take on Georgia Souther, Mercer and Kennesaw State.
