STORRS, Conn. – The UConn rowing team welcomed a new boat to its fleet this past weekend on Saturday, Feb. 9 during halftime of UConn's annual Play4Kay game. "The River Legacy" was a gift to the program from longtime supporter of UConn athletics, Mark Scheinberg.
"It was a great day for UConn women's rowing to be able to have the boat dedication at halftime of the women's basketball game," said head coach Jennifer Sanford. "Having Mark Scheinberg and his family christen the shell was special for the rowing program, as we genuinely appreciate his generosity. The River Legacy will be rowed with pride this spring in its inaugural season and for many years to come!"
Mark Scheinberg has been a UConn season ticket holder and donor for many years. He is a devoted Husky fan who has shown support for UConn Athletics in a variety of ways. When he's not cheering for the Huskies, he stays busy as the President of Goodwin College in East Hartford, an institution he founded in 1981.
