- The UConn Huskies start their weekend on Thursday night playing host to the No. 13 nationally ranked Northeastern Huskies at the XL Center.
- The Huskies are coming off a 5-3 loss at home to Boston College last Friday night while Northeastern played their way into the Beanpot final next Monday thanks to a 2-1 overtime win over Boston University on Monday night.
- UConn is in the midst of a pair of losing streaks heading into this weekend. The Huskies are currently winless in their last six-straight (0-5-1) and are also winless in their last 12-straight Hockey East contests (0-10-1).
- With eight Hockey East games left on the slate, the time is now for the Huskies to make a push for the postseason. UConn sits in 11th place in the standings with six points, nine points back of Maine in eighth place for the final playoff spot. The top-eight teams in Hockey East will qualify for the 2019 league tournament.
- Freshman Ruslan Iskhakov had his best game in a UConn uniform in last Friday's loss to BC, having a hand in all three Husky goals. The UConn rookie scored twice, his first career multi-goal game, and added an assist. Iskhakov has four goals and seven assists on the season.
- Senior Karl El-Mir as put together a career-best senior season with 22 points and 12 goals, both career-best marks. El-Mir shares the team lead in scoring and is tied for 12th in Hockey East in scoring and sixth in goals scored.
- El-Mir has six power play goals this season, tied for second in Hockey East and ninth in the NCAA. Five of El-Mir's power play scores have come with freshman Jachym Kondelik and sophomore Evan Wisocky picking up the assist.
- Freshman Jachym Kondelik is among the top freshmen point producers in Hockey East and the country. The rookie has 22 points on three goals and 19 assists. He ranks third in the league and tied for fifth nationally among first-year players in scoring.
- In the UConn freshman record book, Kondelik's 22 points currently rank tied for ninth during the Division I era (1998-present) and tied for 15th overall. His 19 assists is third on the rookie DI list and ninth all-time.
- Sophomore Evan Wisocky has piled up 11 assists on the season playing a key role on the UConn power play all year with eight helpers coming with the man advantage.
- Alexander Payusov's 13 goals is a career-best mark for the junior, eclipsing his 12 from last season, and is currently ranked fourth among Hockey East goal scorers.
This Season vs. Northeastern

The UConn Huskies fell at Northeastern, 3-2, in their first meeting this season up in Boston back in November. UConn freshman Roman Kinal scored his first collegiate goal and collected an assist in the loss while senior Max Kalter scored the Huskies other goal. Trailing 1-0 after the first period, Northeastern's Jeremy Davies tied the game up at 9:07 in the second on a power play goal. UConn took a 2-1 lead into the third period but NU tied the game on a 5-on-3 chance at 11:17 in the third on a Zach Solow goal and Brandon Hawkins provided the game-winner with just over a minute left. Junior goaltender Adam Huska made 36 saves, including 17 in the third period while NU's goaltender Cayden Primeau made 22 saves to earn the win.
Scouting the Huskies
The Northeasten Huskies snapped a three-game slide on Monday night, rallying for a 2-1 overtime win over Boston University in the Beanpot Tournament. Northeastern will take on Boston College next Monday looking to defend their title in the Beanpot final. The Huskies come in ranked No. 13 in both national polls this week, sitting at 16-8-1 overall and 9-6-1 in conference play. Currently, the Huskies are in fourth place in the Hockey East standings. Senior Brandon Hawkins leads the Huskies in points with 22 on the season and is tied for 12th in Hockey East. Freshman Tyler Madden trails closely behind Hawkins with 21, leading all NU rookies in points. Sophomore Zach Solow comes in first in the league in shorthanded goals and game winning goals with two and five, respectively. In net, sophomore Cayden Primeau is sixth among all Hockey East goaltenders with a 2.36 goals against average and a .922 save percentage. The sophomore also has a .659 winning percentage, coming in third among the league's netminders.
