Field Hockey Earns NFHCA Academic Honors

GILBERT, Ariz. โ The UConn field hockey team has been recognized for its efforts in the classroom as the Huskies earned the 2018 ZAG Field Hockey/NFHCA National Academic Team Award. Additionally, 16 student-athletes earned spots on the 2018 Division I National Academic Squad.
The Division I National Academic Team Award recognizes programs that earned a team grade-point average of 3.0 or higher during the fall semester of the 2018-19 school year.
The Huskies on the National Academic Squad include Victoria Albright, Rachel Alexander, Svea Boker, Natalie Burns, Amanda Collins, Lindsay Dickinson, Abby Gooderham, Amelia Iacobucci, Karo Kueskes, Chiara Ma, Frances Mirabile, Cecile Pieper, Ashley Rich, Liz Romano, Antonia Tiedtke and Lisanne van den Noort.
Collins, Iacobucci and Rich have earned National Academic Squad recognition all four years of their collegiate careers.
Seventy-six programs were tabbed to the National Academic Team Award. A total of 940 student-athletes were named to the National Academic Squad.
Also formidable on the field, the Huskies advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament in the fall. UConn won the BIG EAST regular season and tournament titles and posted a 19-4 overall record. The Huskies featured three All-Americans in Collins, Boker and Pieperย and six All-BIG EAST honorees.
