STORRS, Conn. - On Saturday, New York Rangers general manager Jeff Gorton announced that the Rangers have signed UConn's Adam Huska (Zvolen, Slovakia) to an entry level contract. Huska will remain in Connecticut as he heads across the hall at the XL Center to play with New York's American Hockey League affiliate, the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Huska, who was a 2015 seventh round draft pick of the Rangers (184th overall), appeared in 69 games during his Husky career from 2016-17 through 2018-19. While in Storrs, Huska posted a 20-38-8 record, along with a 2.90 goals against average and a .908 save percentage with a pair of shutouts. Huska made 30 or more saves in 27 of his 69 collegiate appearances (39.1% of his appearances), including 13 of his 21 appearances during his freshman year in 2016-17. He established NCAA career-bests in appearances (27) and GAA (2.59) during his sophomore year in 2017-18, as he allowed two goals or fewer in 17 of his 27 appearances during the season. In addition, Huska posted a career-best, .916 SV% during his freshman year in 2016-17, and he ranked ninth among NCAA freshmen goaltenders in save percentage during that season.
He also had international playing experience, representing Slovakia at the IIHF World Junior Championships in 2016 and 2017 where he was named one of the Top Three Players for his team both times.
