Huskies to Face USF in American Tournament Semifinals

UNCASVILLE, Conn. - The top-seeded UConn women's basketball team (29-2, 16-0) takes on USF (18-14, 7-9) in the American Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals Sunday at 4 p.m. The game will be aired on ESPN2 and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield IMG College.
The Huskies beat ECU, 92-65, in the tournament Saturday. Senior Napheesa Collier posted 37 points and 13 rebounds for her 18th double-double of the season. Collier scored 29 points in the first half. Making her second career start, freshman Olivia Nelson-Ododa notched 17 rebounds and five assists.
The Huskies went 16-0 in conference play to earn the No. 1 seed in the tournament. UConn has won the previous five American Conference Tournament titles. The Huskies have won 23 conference tournament championships in program history.
Including the conference tournament, UConn is 118-0 in American Athletic Conference games.
The Huskies brought in numerous regular season conference honors Collier was tabbed the American's Player and Defensive Player of the Year while Christyn Williams was named the Freshman of the Year. Head coach Geno Auriemma earned the league's Coach of the Year honors. Collier, senior Katie Lou Samuelson and junior Crystal Dangerfield were named to the All-Conference First Team and sophomore Megan Walker was tabbed to the Third Team.
UConn is 28-0 all-time vs. USF. The teams met less than a week ago as the Huskies closed the regular season in Tampa with a 57-47 win.
