Huskies with strong finish at NCAA East prelims

JACKSONVILLE, Fla—The 4x400 Meter Relay team for UConn wrapped up the events on the third and final day of the NCAA East Preliminary Round.
In a field of 24 of the nation's top relay teams, the Huskies finished the race in the top-15. Head Coach J.J. Clark's relay team consisted of Kristina Cherrington, Kat Surin, Susan Aneno, and Dejanee Parms. The quartet crossed the finish line with an outdoor season best time of 3:34.52, to finish 14th overall.
DAY TWO
Aneno and Surin punched their tickets to the 2019 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Austin, Texas.
Surin's finish on Thursday advanced her to today's race where she finished eighth overall at 52.44. This is the second time this outdoor season that she has posted this exact time, her personal best, in this event.
Aneno rounded out to top-5 of this very competitive race. Her time of 2:04.17 placed her fifth overall in a field of 24 student-athletes.
DAY ONE
Surin and Aneno notched qualifying times in their respective events, the 400 Meter Dash and 800 Meter Run. Surin finished 14th at 52.99, with Aneno a pair of places back of Surin at 16th overall at 2:05.93.
Thalia Ghalam started the day off for the Huskies in the javelin throw. Her 44.20m (145-0) mark landed her just shy of the top-30, at 31st overall.
Chanell Botsis notched yet another successful effort in the hammer throw with a mark of 59.81m (196-2). This finish placed her in the top-20 in the event, to be 19th overall.
In the long jump Taylor Woods was the lone representative for UConn and did not disappoint. She concluded the first round at 34th overall and 5.84m (19-2).
Cherrington kick started the track events on the day and represented the Huskies in the 400 Meter Hurdles. She finished 39th overall at 1:01.59.
UP NEXT
Surin and Aneno will head to the Lone Star State on Wednesday, June 5th–Saturday, June 8th to compete at the 2019 Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
