STORRS, Conn. โ The UConn baseball team was selected to the 2019 NCAA Championship on Monday afternoon and will begin play in the Oklahoma City, Okla. Regional, hosted by Oklahoma State University. The Huskies are slotted as the No. 2 seed in the Oklahoma City Regional and will face No. 3 seed Nebraska on Friday, May 31 at 1 p.m. ET. All of the Huskies NCAA Tournament games will be on the ESPN family of networks and online on ESPN3.
UConn and Nebraska are joined in the Regional by the host and No. 1 seeded Cowboys of Oklahoma State and No. 4 seed Harvard. NCAA Regionals serve as four-team, double elimination tournament with winners advancing to play in a Super Regional best two-of-three series. The winner of the Oklahoma City Regional will advance to play the winner of the Lubbock Regional.
The full schedule for the NCAA Oklahoma State Regional will be released later this week. The venue for the Regional switched from Stillwater, Okla. to Oklahoma City due to more than 12 inches of rain in Stillwater since May 15. The playing surface at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium is unplayable and Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark, home of the triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will be the site of the Regional.
UConn is set to make its 21st NCAA Tournament appearance and sixth appearance since 2010. The Huskies earned their fifth at-large bid in program history (1993, 2010, 2011, 2018).
