PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The UConn men's basketball team will face arguably its toughest-ever American Athletic Conference schedule in the upcoming 2019-20 season.
The Huskies will play seven games against the four AAC teams that reached the NCAA Tournament last season, plus two more against the team bringing in the top recruiting class in the country, as the league released its list of home and away conference opponents on Wednesday.
Each of the 12 teams in The American will play an 18-game league schedule, meeting seven of its 11 opponents in home-and-away series, and the remaining four opponents once each, two of them just at home, and the other two just on the road.
UConn will meet defending league champion Cincinnati, Houston, and Temple in home and away series and will play UCF – the league's fourth NCAA Tournament participant – once, only at home.
In addition, the Huskies will have a home-and-away series against Memphis, which boasts the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, according to most experts. Other opponents which UConn will play twice include USF, Tulane and Tulsa.
Besides UCF, the Huskies will also just meet Wichita State at home and will only meet East Carolina and SMU on the road. The dates and times of the league games will be announced in the coming months.
All 12 AAC teams will compete in the 2020 American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Championship, scheduled for March 12-15 at the new Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.
