12 Huskies Named to HEA All-Academic Team

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn men's hockey program placed 12 student-athletes on the 2018-19 Hockey East All-Academic Team announced by the league. Hockey East announced that a league record 160 student-athletes have earned a spot on this year's team.
Recent graduates Karl El-Mir (Montreal, Quebec) and Max Kalter (Highland Park, Ill.) were at the top of the list, a three-time and two-time honorees, respectively. Philip Nyberg (Linkoping, Sweden) earned a spot for the third-straight season.
Rising senior Alexander Payusov (Montreal, Quebec) and rising junior Bradley Stone (London, England) were each honored for the second-straight season.
First-time UConn honorees were Evan Wisocky (Hoboken, N.J.) and rising sophomores Marc Gatcomb (Woburn, Mass.), Ruslan Iskhakov (Moscow, Russia), Jordan Timmons (South Fayette, Pa.), Carter Turnbull (Nanaimo, British Columbia), Ryan Wheeler (Lancaster, N.Y.) and John Wojciechowski (Mamaroneck, N.Y.).
Each student-athlete achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better in each of the academic periods during which he was actively competing during the 2018-19 season.
The Huskies matched their high mark of 12 student-athletes, set in each of the last four seasons.
