Taylor finalizes softball coaching staff

STORRS, Conn.—Head Coach Laura Valentino has added the final piece to her coaching staff, in Pattie Ruth Taylor as a volunteer assistant coach.
"I am thrilled to announced Pattie Ruth as our volunteer assistant coach," said Valentino. "She is a high character young woman, driven to make an impact in the lives of student-athletes. Pattie Ruth will bring commitment, passion, and connection, which align perfectly with the core values of our program. I am so excited to watch her grow in the beginning stages of her coaching career."
"I am beyond thankful and appreciative for the opportunity Laura Valentino has given me," said Taylor. "Coach Valentino's passion for the game is undeniable and I look forward to being a part of building a championship culture in this new era of UConn Softball. I am eager to meet the team and get started!"
Taylor is a recent graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a masters of science in leisure and sport management. As a student-athlete, she was a part of the Blue Raiders' pitching staff from 2015-2018. She was named a National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-American Scholar Athlete, two-time C-USA Honor Roll member, and a member the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
Most recently, Taylor served as a pitching instructor at SIX1FIVE where she provided private pitching instruction to girls in a wide age range. She aided in expanding the knowledge of softball through overall experience and drills.
Her other experiences include event planning with the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame in Nashville, an international business internship with student-athletes abroad in Costa Rica, and summer camp division leadership with the Atlanta Braves as well as the Washington Nationals. Through these experiences Taylor worked with local schools, businesses, community organizations, and Escuelas Deportivas Special Olympics.
