Umstead, Team USA Win Bronze at Pan Am Games

LIMA, Peru – UConn field hockey alumna Casey Umstead and the U.S. National Team earned bronze at the 2019 Pan American Games.
Team USA beat Chile 5-1 to earn the bronze medal. A free hit by Umstead led to the team's third goal. Umstead scored in the U.S.'s 9-0 win over Cuba in the quarterfinals.
The tournament was Umstead's first world championship experience with Team USA. She led UConn to the 2014 and 2017 NCAA Championships as a defender. Umstead was a two-time All-American in Storrs, including first team honors in 2017.
Next for the USWNT is an Olympic Qualifying Event. USA will find out their opponent after the completion of the last continental championship, the Oceania Cup that concludes September 8.
