PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The UConn women's soccer team opens its 2019 regular season at old Big East foe Providence on Thursday, August 22 at 7 p.m. on the Big East Digital Network.
The Huskies are coming off of a pair of impressive exhibition matches against Quinnipiac and UMass. UConn outscored its opponents 7-1 on the road.
Sophomore transfer Duda Santin (Curitiba, Brazil) shined in the preseason with three goals including a brace at UMass.Â
UConn is looking to rebound after a 4-14 season in 2018 after losing leading scorers Vivien Beil (Jena, Germany) and Kess Elmore (Liverpool, England) to season-long ACL injuries.
The Huskies brought in a solid recruiting class that mixes nicely with a solid group of veterans. The American Athletic Conference coaches voted UConn seventh in the preseason poll.
The Huskies will open their home portion of their schedule on Sunday, August 25 at 6 p.m. vs. Fairfiled at the University of Hartford
