Huskies Ranked Fourth in NFHCA Preseason Poll

GILBERT, Ariz. – The storied UConn field hockey program begins the 2019 season ranked No. 4 in the preseason Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll.
The Huskies will once again have one of the toughest schedules in the nation as the team takes on 11 teams ranked in the preseason poll: No. 2 Maryland, No. 5 Princeton, No. 6 Harvard, No. 7 Michigan, No. 15 Northwestern, No. 16 Delaware, No. 18 Syracuse, No. 19 Rutgers, No. 20 Liberty, No. 21 Stanford and No. 23 Boston University.
For the 10th straight season, UConn is favored to win the BIG EAST. The Huskies won their sixth consecutive conference title in 2018. Connecticut has won 32 straight BIG EAST games, dating back to 2013.
Senior Svea Boker was tabbed the BIG EAST Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Boker is joined on the Preseason All-BIG EAST team by senior Antonia Tiedtke, junior Jessica Dembrowski, sophomore Lindsay Dickinson and redshirt sophomore Cheyenne Sprecher.
UConn opens the 2019 season in Stanford, Calif., facing No. 15 Northwestern next Saturday, Aug. 31 before taking on the 21st-ranked Cardinal on Sunday, Sept. 1.
