FH Defeats Quinipiac to Open Big East Play

HAMDEN, Conn. - The No. 4 UConn field hockey team defeated Quinnipiac 5-0 to open Big East Conference play on Friday afternoon at the Quinnipiac Field Hockey Stadium.
Freshman Sophie Hamilton posted her first career multi-goal game by scoring a pair of goals against the Bobcats. Hamilton notched a goal in the first quarter and the Huskies never looked back.
Maddy Wray pushed the UConn lead to 2-0 in the second quarter with her fourth goal of the season.
Boker followed suit with a pair of goals in the second quarter to extend the Huskies lead to 4-0 entering the halftime break.Â
Hamilton capped her afternoon with her second tally at the start of the third quarter, making it 5-0 UConn.
The Huskies dominated play with a 25-4Â advantage in shots and 16-3Â differential on shots on goal.
Abby Gooderham contributed a pair of assists in the victory while Maddy Wray and Kourtney Kennedy added helpers.
UConn travels to No. 6 Princeton on Sunday afternoon at 12Â p.m. to take on the Tigers
