Huskies Sweep BIG EAST Weekly Awards

NEW YORK – The third-ranked UConn field hockey team swept the BIG EAST weekly awards after going 2-0 last weekend. Senior Svea Boker was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week, redshirt sophomore Cheyenne Sprecher was named Defensive Player of the Week and Sophie Hamilton was selected as the Freshman of the Week.
Boker repeats as BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week with a nine-point week (4G, 1A) helping the No. 3 Huskies to two wins. Boker scored twice and added an assist in Connecticut's 6-2 BIG EAST win over No. 22 Old Dominion on Friday. She followed with two more goals in a 4-0 victory over Boston University.
Sprecher had 15 total saves in the two wins. Sprecher made six saves in the 6-2 BIG EAST win over No. 22 Old Dominion. She followed up with nine saves against Boston University, completing her fifth shutout of the season.
Hamilton totaled seven points (2G, 3A) this weekend. She posted three assists in the 6-2 win over Monarchs. Hamilton also scored twice in the 4-0 win over the Terriers. Hamilton's goals bookended the win with the first goal in the 18th minute and the fourth in the 36th.
The Huskies are back on the road this weekend at Temple Friday at 5 p.m. and at No. 4 Maryland Sunday at noon.
