No. 4 UConn Defeats No. 6 Harvard, 3-0

STORRS, Conn. – The No. 4 UConn field hockey team (4-0) picked up its fourth win over a ranked opponent this season as the Huskies beat No. 6 Harvard (1-1), 3-0, Sunday afternoon at the George J. Sherman Family Sports Complex.
Sophomore Abby Gooderham, freshman Marie Auer and freshman Sophie Hamilton each scored vs. the Crimson. Four different Huskies made assists: sophomore Maddy Wray, junior Kourtney Kennedy, senior Antonia Tiedtke and senior Svea Boker.
Redshirt sophomore Cheyenne Sprecher made six saves and had her second straight shutout of the season.
Gooderham scored just 1:35 into the game off a penalty corner attempt. In the second quarter, Auer picked up a rebound off the keeper and shot it into the left of the cage.
Later in the second quarter, Hamilton deflected a penalty corner shot from Kennedy. UConn took a 3-0 lead into halftime.
Harvard outshot UConn 5-2 in the third quarter, but the Huskies' defense was able to keep the Crimson off the board. UConn added three more shots in the fourth, but the team's 3-0 lead stood.
UConn hosted its Alumni Game Sunday and honored members of its 15 NCAA Final Four and five NCAA Championship teams.

The Huskies are on the road for their next four games. UConn travels to No. 7 Michigan Friday at 6 p.m. and Michigan State Sunday at 11 a.m. next weekend.
