PHILADELPHIA. - The UConn men's swimming and diving team set three pool records at Villanova on Saturday afternoon en route to a 205-95 victory.
With no rest, after a Senior Day meet last weekend in Storrs, Copper Knapp (100 Fly) Will Kearsey (100 Back) and North Hansen (1650 Free) willed their way to record-setting performances.
"Overall it was a another meet where we raced hard and come through with some solid times at this time of year," said head coach Chris Maiello. "Swimming the 1650 and 400 IM in the same program definitely challenged our team. The men's meet was fun to watch as we broke three pool records. All three swims were really good for this time of year and they are setting themselves up for a great championship season."
Hansen secured the first pool record with a 15:46.18 mark in the 1650 Free capturing a first place finish by nearly 40 seconds over second place.
Kearsey scored his pool record in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 48.80 while Knapp raced to a clip of 48.87 in his record-setting performance in the 100 Butterfly.
The seniors added to their pool records with Knapp winning the 200 Fly and Kearsey taking the 50 Free.
Josh Wroblewski, (200 Free & 500 Free) and Rowan King (100 Breast & 200 Breast) each secured multiple triumphs on Saturday while Kyle Dunlap collected a win in the 100 Free
The relay team of Kearsey, King, Knapp and Dunlap notched a first place finish in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:31.00. Emils Jurcik, Josh Bryant, Dunlap and Jack Muratori swam an impressive 1:24.43 to win the 200 Free relay.
