STORRS, Conn. – UConn volleyball head coach Ellen Herman-Kimball announced the signing of 2021 freshman Carly Furlong to the Huskies Wednesday.
"We are extremely excited to sign such a well-rounded individual like Carly," Herman-Kimball said. "We are eager to see how she develops into a college level player. Her confidence in her blocking skills, along with her hard-working mentality is what really caught our attention, but the disciplined, consistent and endearing personality is what sealed the deal! Needless to say, we are proud of her with what she has accomplished thus far, but even more eager to see what she can do at the next level."
A 6-foot-3 middle blocker from Louisville, Ky., Furlong helped Sacred Heart Academy to three straight district tournament championships. She earned four straight Academic All-State honors and was named to the 2020 All-District Tournament Team. Furlong was named to the 2020 Under Armour All-American and KVCA All-State watch lists.
She also helped Sacred Heart win the 2019 Showdown at the Sunsphere and Nike Tournament of Champions (silver division) Championships.
Furlong played club for KIVA for four years. She was a Women's NIT 17's Open Division finalist and was twice named to the JVA watch list.
Furlong intends to major in allied health sciences at UConn. She is the daughter of Brian and Christy Furlong and has two younger siblings, Cooper and Alyssa.
