STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's volleyball team announced its 2020 spring schedule on Wednesday. The Huskies will play four spring matches, including two at home in Gampel Pavilion.
UConn finished the 2019 season and final American Conference season with a 12-16 overall record and a 6-10 mark in conference play. The Huskies ended the season winning three of their last four games, including a big road victory at Houston.
"Our biggest thing was just getting better every day. And I think that's exactly what we did, just looking at the beginning of the season to where we were at the end of the season," said head coach Ellen Herman-Kimball.
"We've made some really big improvements individually and collectively as a team. We are pretty much returning everybody, so this spring for us is really picking up right where we left off. Not a lot of teams get to do that, so we'll use that to our advantage."
The Huskies will host the Yale Bulldogs at Gampel Pavilion in their first spring game of 2020. The game is slated for 4:30pm on Friday, February 28th in Storrs.
"Excited about Friday, playing Yale, which is always competitive. I'm excited to see what we have right from the top."
UConn will also host Marist on Saturday, March 28th. Start time for that match will be announced closer to the match. The Huskies close out their spring schedule with a tournament hosted by Bryant University on April 18th. They will play the host Bulldogs as well as the Boston College Eagles. Game times will be announced at a later date.
"We are just real excited. Spring is probably the most important season in terms of personal improvements in the weight room and on the court. It also gives our very young team an opportunity to play together, to get to know one another and development more of a playing relationship. That's what I'm excited for."
