Marybeth Olson Garners Husky High Five Honors for February

STORRS, Conn. – Junior pitcher Marybeth Olson garned recognition as a Student Athlete Success Program (SASP) Husky High Five recipient for the month of February.
The Husky High Fives recognizes UConn student-athletes that demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, growth and improvement in their commitment to succeeding in the classroom, their sport, and/or in the area of service and leadership. This award recognizes and honors students who have achieved success in these areas through hard work and dedication. When selecting the Husky High Five winners, they are selected on the criteria of demonstrating significant achievement in their coursework despite various challenges and showing growth in the areas of academics, personal development, leadership and service.
Olson boasts a 6-0 record in nine appearances in the circle. The Victoria, Minn., native owns a 1.19 ERA and has racked up 63 strikeouts while allowing just seven runs and seven walks through 41.1 innings of work. Offensively, Olson has tallied seven hits, six RBI's, two runs, two doubles, nine total bases and a .350 average.
Additionally, following a selection to the honor roll in week one, Olson locked up American Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week Honors for Feb. 17. She aided the Huskies to a 5-0 weekend, recording a pair of dominant performances in the circle, which included tossing a no-hitter in the 8-0 victory over Central Michigan Feb.14. Through 13 innings pitched that weekend she struck out 16 batters, allowing just five hits, three walks and one run. Additionally, Olson had an ERA of 0.54.
