UConn Celebrates 2020 Husky Awards Show

STORRS, Conn. – UConn Athletes celebrated its student-athletes and teams' accomplishments at the 2020 Husky Awards Show Saturday evening.
The show was emceed by Conor Geary, UConn's in-game host. This year's Husky Awards was held virtually.
"Our athletics success story was interrupted before our winter and spring sports could realize their full potential," director of athletics David Benedict said in his opening remarks, "but this year, perhaps more than any other year, we stand proudly with our student-athletes and offer our continual thanks for their pursuit of excellence."
The UConn field hockey program and its student-athletes earned four awards Saturday night, including Team Performance of the Year, Female Rookie of the Year (Sophie Hamilton) and Female Athlete and Female International Athlete of the Year (Svea Boker).
"It's incredible how much support we get here at UConn, which makes the transition into a new country a lot easier," Boker said after being presented with the Female International Athlete of the Year Award. "Right after I got here, I was welcomed into a new second family: the UConn Huskies family."
Men's track and field's David Ajama took home two awards: Male Rookie Athlete of the Year and Individual Male Performance of the Year for winning the conference indoor track & field championship in the triple jump.
