STORRS, Conn. – The BIG EAST Conference welcomes the UConn men's golf team back to the league with the four-team BIG EAST Match Play, set for Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 1-2, at the Pelican Golf Club in Clearwater, Fla.
"It's just a great opportunity for us to open up the season with some of our conference partners," UConn Coach Dave Pezzino said. "I think it's just right."
It is the first competition of the 2021 spring season for the Huskies, who are scheduled to play in eight events leading up to the BIG EAST Championship, which is set to begin on April 30 at Callawassie Island, S.C.

The tourney finishes on Tuesday morning with UConn playing DePaul and Marquette facing Seton Hall.

In the final regular-season event of the spring season, the Huskies head for the Penn State Blue Course in State College, Pa., to participate in The Rutherford on April 17-18.
Postseason competition will take place on April 30-May 2, with the BIG EAST Conference Championship, held April 30-May 2 at Callawassie Island, S.C. The NCAA Regional Competition follows on May 16-19 at various sites to be determined, with the NCAA Finals scheduled for May 27-June 1 at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
All competitions are subject to change, depending on health mandates.
"I can't thank all of our medical people and our administration enough for getting us to this point," Pezzino said. "In these tough times, it's a light at the end of the tunnel to see a schedule that we can work toward.
"Our guys' work ethic has been tremendous and we're all very excited to be working together again and preparing to put the ball in play for real."
UConn heads into the spring season with a solid mixture of veterans and newcomers on the roster, including seniors Finn Boynton, Rodrigo Sanchez and Justin Clark, juniors Jared Nelson and Nick Hampoian, sophomore Logan Broyles, and freshmen Tommy Dallahan, Caleb Manuel, and Jimmy Paradise.
