UConn and Creighton end in Tie

Awashie's goal, which was assisted by freshman Mateo Leveque. Following the early goal by UConn, Creighton responded and tied the game shortly after in the 19th minute. Following the back-to-back goals, both teams turned up the pressure.
Creighton had a great chance to break the tie, but a shot was blocked by the UConn defense and deflected harmlessley out of bounds. UConn answered the attack when senior Dom Laws chipped the ball over a Blue Jays, but the shot sailed just high of the goal. Neither team could break the tie following the early scores as both squads went into half tied at 1-1.
UConn had a chance to take the lead early in the second half on a free kick right outside the box, but a diving save by the Creighton keeper kept things tied at, 1-1. UConn continued on the attack, out shooting Creighton 7-6 early in the second half. Creighton's best chance of the second half came in the 71st minute when the Blue Jays had a breakaway off of a UConn corner, however graduate student keeper Jahmali Waite made a huge save to keep the score knotted at 1-1.
UConn took the lead in the 79th minute when freshman Mateo Leveque drew and converted on a penalty kick. However, in the 90th minute, Creighton scored a goal off of a UConn turnover forcing the game into overtime. Creighton went on the attack in the first overtime period with their best chance coming off a header that went just wide however neither team was able to score resulting in a 2-2 deadlock

UConn will travel to South Orange, N.J., as the Huskies take on Seton Hall on October 20th. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
