STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team tied St. John's 1-1 on Saturday night at Morrone Stadium. The Huskies are now 4-3-1 overall and 0-2-1 in Big East play.

No real chances for either side in the opening 10 minutes. UConn had two chances in the 13^th minute, as sophomore Moussa Wade's shot from the top of the box was blocked. Freshman Mateo Leveque collected the rebound, but saw his shot go wide of the post.

As the half continued, the play began to get chippy, with teams exchanging hard fouls. There were little offensive opportunities created on either end of the field until the 23^rd minute when St. John's pounced on a loose ball and took a 1-0 lead.

The Huskies got an immediate response in the 24^th minute, as Moussa Wade found Jayden Reid at the top of the box. Reid battled through the Red Storm defense to find space at the top of the box. His left-footed strike curled around the goalkeeper and into the net to tie the game. The chippy play continued as the rivalry began to heat up just as the half ended 1-1.

The second half began just as the first ended, with the intensity increasing with every tackle. The Red Storm hit the crossbar not long into the half, but the ball stayed out and was cleared by the UConn defense. In the 61^st minute, Leveque's free kick floated into the box, but could not be tucked away by the Huskies, keeping the score tied at 1-1. Jayden Reid had another opportunity in the 87^th minute, but his shot from the right side was saved. The score would stay tied at 1-1 and the Huskies and Red Storm would head to extra time.

In the 100^th minute, Maxwel De-Bodene found space at the top of the box and ripped a right-footed shot that was pushed just wide by the Red Storm goalkeeper, the best chance of the first half of extra time. Neither team could find a winning goal and the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
