UConn Hosts Villanova Wednesday Night

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn men's soccer team returns to action on Wednesday night as they play host to the Villanova Wildcats. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00pm at Morrone Stadium at the Rizza Family Sports Complex.

Last Time Out
The Huskies enter Wednesday night following a hard fought 1-1 draw against St. John's on Saturday night. Sophomore Jayden Reid scored his second goal of the season to bring UConn level less than two minutes after SJU had taken the lead. Graduate student goalkeeper Jahmali Waite made four saves in Saturday' contest. The Huskies and Red Storm played 110 minutes in a hard fought, back-and-forth game, but neither side could find a winner.
Scouting the Wildcats
Villanova comes to Storrs with a 7-2 overall record and 3-0 mark in conference play. The Wildcats have defeated Marquette (1-0), Butler (1-0), and Xavier (1-0) in Big East action this season. Lyam MacKinnon leads the team with three goals and two assists for eight points on the season. Seven other Wildcats have recorded at least a point this year.
Matchup History
Wednesday's match will be the 18th time the Huskies and Wildcats meet on the pitch, dating back to 1990. UConn is also 8-0 at home against Villanova. The last time these teams met was in the shortened spring season in 2021, when the Wildcats came away with a 4-1 victory at Villanova.
