STORRS,Conn.- In a packed Wolff-Zackin Natatorium, an all-around team effort from the University of Connecticut women's swimming and diving team propelled the team to victory over Georgetown.
UConn started the meet out strong, placing first and third in the 400 yard medley relay. The relay team of junior Caitlyn Spencer, senior Katelyn Walsh, senior Linnea Anderson and freshman Maggie Donlevy came from behind to end up winning the event with a time of 3:51.55.
"I think the meet went really well. The Villanova loss last week was hard, so this week we really wanted to focus on our technique, and not look back and dwell, and just prepare for this meet," said freshman Maggie Donlevy.
UConn swimmers stayed hot, placing first in three of the first four events. The dominance didn't stop there as senior Ali Grace, and senior Molly Franklin were able to place first and second in the 200 yard butterfly. The first and second place finish wasn't enough for the Huskies as they took a clean sweep of the 50 yard freestyle. Freshman Maggie Donlevy placed first with a time of 24.18 followed by junior Charlotte Proceller 24.39 and sophomore Melissa Lowry 24.60.
"Our coaching staff is great. Before each event, they give you a rundown of your swim what they expect and how you can achieve your goal. As a freshman that has been really helpful," said Maggie Donlevy who ended the day with four first place finishes.
Maggie Donlevy didn't stop after the 50 freestyle. She placed first in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 52.82.
The Huskies would take first and second place in the 200 yard freestyle relay to end the meet and secure the victory. UConn would go on to win the meet 166-126.
