PHILADELPHIA - The UConn women's rowing team competed in its second straight major regatta, posting strong outings at the Head of the Schuylkill Saturday afternoon.
The Varsity Eight posted the best result of the day for the Huskies, taking fourth place with a time of 13:17.470. The second Varsity Eight followed suit, clocking in at 14:01.989 to finish in 15th place out of a 41-team field.
The Varisty Four also notched a solid performance on the water, ticking in at 15:12.999 to finish in 18th place out of a 40-team field.
"Today our women got to experience the different types of obstacles that can occur in head racing," stated head coach Jennifer Sanford. "Those things aside, all in all it was a really positive day. The Varsity Eight was very pleased with their row and their fourth-place finish. The second Varsity Eight didn't have their best piece, but know what they need to work on to prepare for the next race, while the third Varsity Eight was a huge success as it was the first race for many of our walk-ons. I'm looking forward to our last race of the season in two weeks where we will have the opportunity to switch from head race racing to 2k racing."
UConn will have a weekend off from competition before closing out the fall season Nyra Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 14.
