Huskies Fall to Butler in BIG EAST Quarterfinals

INDIANAPOLIS – The sixth-seeded UConn women's soccer team (9-8-1) fell to No. 3 seed Butler (15-3-1), 1-0, in double overtime Sunday afternoon in the BIG EAST Championship quarterfinals.
The Huskies began the game aggressively, notching four corner kicks and four shots in the first half.
UConn had a couple great opportunities in the second half, including their best attempt off a Jada Konte shot that went just wide.
In the first overtime, the UConn defense continued to hold strong, helping block a series of Butler shots.
Butler's game winner came at the 106:46 mark in the second overtime off a shot from the left of the goal.
Sophomore Jaydah Bedoya led UConn with four shots in the game while sophomore Jada Konte had three.
Sophomore Kaitlyn Mahoney made five saves vs. the Bulldogs.
The Huskies finished the 2021 season with a 9-8-1 overall record, including a 5-4-1 mark in BIG EAST Conference play.
