MANUEL TIED FOR LEAD, UCONN TIED FOR SECOND AFTER TWO ROUNDS OF INVITATIONAL

HAMPDEN, Mass. – UConn sophomore Caleb Manuel overcame consistent rain showers to fire a sizzling 4-under par 68 Monday, to vault to the top of the leaderboard after two rounds of the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse.
Manuel (Topsham, Me.) -- who had six birdies during the round, which equals the best round of the tourney so far – led the Huskies to an aggregate 297, giving UConn a two-round total of 13-over, 292-297=589, deadlocked with Lafayette College for second place. Rhode Island leads the 16-team tourney with a 1-under, 282-293=575.
The final round at Great Horse will take place Tuesday.
Manuel's two-round total of 6-under, 70-68=138, is tied with Justin Burkhamer of Iona College (69-69=138) at the top of the 90-player field.
Two other Huskies are also in the tourney's top 10. Sophomore Jimmy Paradise (Tampa, Fla.), competing as an individual, sits tied for eighth place after shooting a 1-over, 70-75=145, while senior Jared Nelson (Rutland, Vt.) is tied for 10th place with a 2-over, 73-73=146.
Also in the UConn lineup, senior Nick Hampoian (North Reading, Mass.), shot a 6-over, 74-76=150 to tie for 26th place, sophomore Tommy Dallahan (Simsbury, Conn.) is tied for 59th with an 11-over, 75-80=155, and junior Logan Broyles is in 81st place with a 19-over, 77-86=163.
Playing as individuals, UConn has freshman Trevor Lopez (Winchester, Mass.) tied for 24th place with a 5-over, 79-70=149, freshman Eric Boulger (Walpole, Mass.) tied for 40th with an-8-over, 76-76=152, and freshman Vikram Konanki (Newton, Mass.) tied for 49th with a 10-over, 77-77=154.
