UConn Golfers Ready for BIG EAST Championship

HARDEEVILLE, SC – The UConn men's golf team will begin their quest for a third conference title as the 2026 BIG EAST Men's Golf Championship presented by JEEP gets underway at Riverton Pointe Golf and Country Club on Saturday morning.
The three-day, 54-hole championship tournament returns to Riverton Pointe in Hardeeville, S.C. after hosting the event there in 2023 and 2024. The Championship will be held May 2-4 and the team champion will receive an automatic berth to the 2026 NCAA Championship. The individual medalist also receives an NCAA Championship invitation.
The Huskies will battle it out with 11 other schools for this year's crown, facing Butler, Creighton, DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall, Villanova and Xavier in the field. UConn owns two BIG EAST championship, winning the title in 2021 and 1994.
UConn finished last season's event tied for fourth place with Villanova. The Marquette Golden Eagles are the defending champs, winning by 11 strokes over second place Xavier.
The Huskies will lean on their combo of senior Connor Goode (Glastonbury, CT) and junior Bradley Sawka (Ellington, CT) who have been at the top of the UConn lineup all season. Both have six top-20 finishes on the year over 11 events. Goode has five top-10 finishes with a 71.5 per round average. He has 17 rounds at par or better on the year.
Sawka sports a team-low 70.8 per round average this year and has had four top-10 finishes. He also leads the squad with 22 round at par or under.
Sophomore Kai-Jun Huang (Taipei, Taiwan) has had two strong tournaments heading into his first BIG EAST Championship. Huang finished second at the Golfweek Stifel Invitational and was tied for 18th at the Rutherford Invite. He has a 72.5 per round average on the season.
Rounding out the lineup will be freshman Brennan Korn (Scottsdale, AZ) and sophomore Matt Costello (Taunton, MA) with sophomore Caden Blanchette (Manchester, PA) serving as the alternate.
Play is scheduled to begin Saturday, May 2, at 8 a.m. ET. Saturday's first-round threesomes will be determined by team seedings, while Sunday's and Monday's groupings are assembled from the previous day's leaderboard.
