STORRS, Conn. - The UConn women's cross country team will run at the 2021 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on Friday morning at Franklin Park in Boston. The Huskies are coming off a third place finish at the BIG EAST Championship last weekend.
Friday's 6K race will step off at 11 am. The Huskies will compete in a field of 38 teams with a spot in the NCAA Championship race in Tallahassee, Florida.
UConn enters the race ranked third in the USTFCCCAÂ Northeast Regional poll this week, coming in behind Syracuse in the top spot and Providence at No. 2.
The Huskies had three All-BIG EAST peformers two weeks ago, with senior Mia Nahom (New Milford, Conn.), fourth place, freshman Chloe Thomas (Dundas, Ontario), seventh, and senior Melissa Zammitti (Charlotte, N.C.), 15th overall, getting the honor.
Last year's NCAA Regional meet wasn't held last season due to the covid-19 pandemic. If the Huskies advance as a team, the title race, hosted by Florida State, is scheduled for Saturday, November 20th.
