No. 2 Huskies to Host Arkansas in Season Opener Sunday

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's basketball team (0-0) beings the 2021-22 vs Arkansas (2-0) Sunday at 1 p.m. in the XL Center in Hartford. The game will air on SNY and the UConn Sports Network from Learfield IMG.
Sunday's game is UConn's first back in the XL Center in 622 days. The Huskies last played in XL on March 2, 2020 vs. USF. Sunday is UConn's Bleed Blue game and all fans are encouraged to wear blue. UConn students can get a limited-edition Bleed Blue t-shirt at the game.
UConn notched a 111-47 win over Fort Hays State in an exhibition last Sunday. Senior Christyn Williams led the team with 20 points while six Huskies finished in double digits. The Huskies scored 72 points in the paint and had 49 bench points as nine players played at least 15 minutes.
UConn is 1-1 all-time vs. Arkansas. The Huskies suffered their only loss in the 2020-21 regular season to the Razorbacks, falling 90-87 in Fayetteville. Then-freshman Paige Bueckers led UConn with 27 points in the game.
The Razorbacks are 2-0 on the season, last picking up a 96-53 win over Arkansas Pine Bluff Friday. Erynn Barnum leads Arkansas with 13.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.
The Huskies are ranked No. 2 in the preseason AP Poll. UConn has been ranked in the AP Poll for 527 consecutive weeks, including 300 straight weeks in the top 10. This is the 24th season UConn has started the year in the top five of the AP Poll.
