RIDGEFIELD, N.J. - Taking the water for the final time of the fall portion of its schedule, the UConn women's rowing team saw multiple boats have success at the NYRA Invitational Sunday morning.
"Today's race was a great way to finish our fall racing," said head coach Jennifer Sanford. "Shifting from head racing to a 2K gave everyone an opportunity to see what it's like to line up head-to-head with other teams."
The 1V8 had the best finish of the day for the Huskies in the 1V8Â B final, coming in first place with a time of 7:12.524, and crossed the finish line nearly eight seconds faster than the runner-up.
In the lone 14V event of the day, UConn recorded a third-place finish with a time of 8:35.102.
"Each boat was able to execute different things they have been working on in practice," commented Sanford. "We have a lot of work to do as we head into winter, and today's results motivated us to commit to that process."The 2V (7:35.825) and 3V (7:51.400) boats closed out the day of competition on the Hackensack River.
