No. 2 UConn to Open Battle 4 Atlantis vs. Minnesota

PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – The UConn women's basketball team (1-0) opens the inaugural Women's Battle 4 Atlantis vs. Minnesota (3-1) Saturday at noon ET. The game will be available on FloHoops and the UConn Sports Network.
UConn opened the season with a 95-80 win over Arkansas last Sunday. Sophomore Paige Bueckers set a new career high with 34 points while shooting 15-for-19 from the field. She added six rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals and had no turnovers.
Bueckers was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week for her performance vs. the Razorbacks.
UConn is 2-0 all-time vs. Minnesota. The teams last met on April 4, 2004, in the NCAA Final Four. UConn head coach Geno Auriemma coached Minnesota head coach Lindsay Whalen on the U.S. National Team in the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. Whalen was on the Minnesota team that faced UConn in 2004. Bueckers is a native of Hopkins, Minn.
Minnesota moved to 3-1 on the season with a 73-56 win over American Wednesday. Sara Scalia leads the Gophers with 14.5 points per game this season.
The Huskies will face either USF or Syracuse on the second day of the tournament Sunday.
