Huskies Head to Marquette for BIG EAST Championship

STORRS, Conn. -Â The UConn women's volleyball team returns to the BIG EAST Championship for the second straight season, and will open its postseason run against Marquette on Friday, Nov. 26 at 1:30 p.m. EST.
The Huskies tallied 13 BIG EAST wins during the regular season, their most conference wins ever in a single season, and enter the postseason as the No. 3 seed. UConn's previous record was 11 BIG EAST wins during the 1998 campaign, where it shared the BIG EAST regular season title with Georgetown. Furthermore, UConn also reached the 20-win mark for the first time since the 2008 season.
UConn is looking to advance past the semifinals for the first time as it pursues its first BIG EAST title. The Huskies won the 1994 BIG EAST regular season title and were the co-champions of the regular season in 1998. All-time, the Huskies are 11-40 in the BIG EAST Championship.
The trio of Caylee Parker, Kennadie Jake-Turner and McKayla Wuensch were all named to the All-BIG EAST Team on Wednesday. Wuensch became the first BIG EAST Setter of the Year in program history, Parker was a unanimous all-conference selection for the second straight season, and Jake-Turner collected her first postseason recogniztion.
Parker paces the attack as she ranks fourth in the conference in kills per set (3.41) and has posted double-digit kills 22 times this season. Jake-Turner leads the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.349) and has been the league-leader in hitting percentage for the majority of the season, while Wuensch ranks second in the conference in assists per set (9.59).
SCOUTING MARQUETTE
The Golden Eagles are led by the BIG EAST Co-Player of the Year Taylor Wolf, who is all over the floor as she ranks second on the team in both kills per set (2.89) and assists per set (5.42). Savannah Rennie and Hope Werch, also graduate students, joined Wolf on the All-BIG EAST Team. Rennis the top defensive threat for the Golden Eagles on the defense with 1.06 blocks per set and Werch is swinging a team-best 3.02 kills per set.
UConn dropped a pair of 3-1 decision to Marquette during the regular season. The Golden Eagles finished as the No. 2 seed and claimed their first share of the BIG EAST regular season title since 2013.
