Rowing Programs Give Back to Coventry Community

STORRS, Conn. – With the holiday season in full swing, both the UConn women’s varsity and men’s club programs, who practice nearby on Coventry Lake, gave back to the Coventry community by participating in a town-wide food drive and “adopted” a family for the holidays.

I'm happy that the men’s and women’s rowing teams could come together and support the town of Coventry. We very much appreciate being able to row on Coventry Lake and look forward to future opportunities to help support the town by participating in other events like this. - Jennifer Sanford
Each program worked with assistant coach Rachel Signor to gather over 200 non-perishable items to donate towards the Coventry food bank. Additionally, the teams “adopted” a family in the Coventry community, as they donated toys, clothing and gifts that neared the value of $1,000 and were delivered for the holidays.

The Coventry community holds a special place in our hearts. It’s where we spend so much time out on the water, so we wanted to work together and give back to the families of this great town. - Rachel Signor
