No. 1 UConn Travels to St. John’s Wednesday

STORRS, Conn. – The top-ranked UConn women's basketball team (16-1, 13-0 BIG EAST) travels to St. John's (6-11, 3-8) Wednesday at 6 p.m. The game will air on SNY and 97-9 ESPN.
UConn moved to No. 1 in the latest AP poll. This is the ninth season in a row the Huskies have been ranked No. 1 at least once. Connecticut has been ranked No. 1 for a record 246 total weeks. The Huskies have been ranked in the AP poll for 522 consecutive weeks, including 295 straight weeks in the top 10.
The Huskies are coming off a 64-40 win over Georgetown last Friday. Freshman Paige Bueckers and junior Christyn Williams led UConn with 19 points each. UConn was playing its third game in five days and fifth game in 10 days. Bueckers also added nine assists while Williams had seven rebounds.
UConn is 42-17 all-time vs. St. John's. This is the second meeting between the teams this season. On Feb. 2, in Gampel Pavilion, Bueckers scored a season-high 32 points as UConn beat St. John's, 94-62. UConn's last loss to an unranked team came against St. John's on Feb. 18, 2012.
St. John's is coming off a 47-35 win at Butler last Saturday. Leilani Correa leads the Red Storm with 20.9 points per game. Head coach Joe Tartamella is in his ninth season.
UConn is on game two of a five-game road stretch. The Huskies last had five straight road games from Feb. 9-19, 1980, which were all against New England teams.
