Nearly $680,000 Raised Through Fight On Fund
STORRS, Conn. - Season ticket holders and fans showed impressive support for the Huskies during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As the fall semester unfolded and the pandemic continued, the palpable excitement for UConn's return to the BIG EAST conference was tempered by a healthy dose of uncertainty.
When reality set in that games would be played without fans in attendance at Gampel Pavilion, UConn Athletics turned to the Husky faithful and asked for support in navigating a season unlike any other.
Season ticket holders were given options that ranged from a full philanthropic gift to a full refund, with benefits associated with keeping much-needed revenue with the department this year. Over $2.1 million in seat donation and ticket revenue was converted to a gift, while 92% of accounts elected to keep a portion of their purchase with the department in the current year. Â
The Division of Athletics announced the establishment of the Fight on Fund, an initiative to raise unrestricted funds for the direct and immediate resources needed to meet the needs of the current year. Over 400 season ticket holder accounts elected to convert their full basketball donation and ticket purchase into a gift to the Fight on Fund. As of today, there are over 1,300 donors to the fund totaling just under $680,000 in support.
While not physically present, fans were still able to show that they #BleedBlue with the purchase of a fan cutout as part of the Bleed Blue Campaign presented by Lewis Real Estate. The initiative took off, with sections quickly filling around the now vibrant lower bowl of Gampel Pavilion. $62,500 was raised for the Fight on Fund through this effort.
Thank you, UConn Nation, for supporting the Huskies and helping us Fight On!
