STORRS, Conn. - On an emotional day in Storrs, the UConn baseball team (7-11) opened its brand-new Elliot Ballpark with a 2-0 win against Central Connecticut.

2 YR FR starting pitcher Pat Gallagher had a career-day on the hill by throwing a career-high five scoreless innings with a career-high nine strikeouts.

The UConn bullpen helped the Huskies secure their second-straight shutout with four scoreless innings split between Kenny Haus, Andrew Marrero, Randy Polonia and Caleb Wurster.

The Huskies jumped on the scoreboard first with a run in the first inning. Kyler Fedko was caught off second base but Sam Loda uncorked an errant throw into center field that allowed Fedko to come around and score.

Erik Stock became the first Husky to record a hit at Elliot Ballpark with his fourth inning single. Stock drove in the first run in new digs with an RBI single in the eighth to extend the UConn lead to 2-0.

Next up, the Huskies will face off against Rhode Island in a three-game set with two games in Storrs on Friday and Saturday and the series finale at URI.
