Tomas Vomacka Signs with Nashville Predators

STORRS, Conn. - The Nashville Predators announced on Thursday that they have signed UConn junior goaltender Tomas Vomacka (Trutnov, Czech Republic) to a two-year, entry level contract. Vomacka will forgo his senior season with the Huskies to join the organization that drafted him in the 2017 NHL Draft.
Vomacka had a stellar junior season for the Huskies, playing every minute of UConn's 23 games this season. He posted a 10-11-2 record with a 2.84 goals against average and a .909 save percentage. He faced the most shots, 725, of any goaltender in Hockey East and made 659 saves, the most in the league and eighth most nationally. He earned Hockey East Third Team All-Star honors and was also named to the Mike Richter watch list this season.
During his three years at UConn, Vomacka finished with a 32-33-5 record in 71 games played. He finished his career with a 2.87 goals against average and a .906 save percentage. His 33 career wins is eighth all-time at UConn and ranks third in the Division I (1998-present) record book. His 1,946 career saves ranks ninth all-time and fifth in the Division I era and his 2.87 career goals against is third on both lists. Â
Vomacka came to UConn after being taken by the Predators in the fifth round (154th overall) in the 2017 draft. Â
