Six Huskies Honored, Hamilton & Van Den Noort Major Awards

STORRS, Conn. - The UConn field hockey team was well represented on this season's All-BIG EAST team with six players honored and Sophie Hamilton and Claire van den noort taking home major conference awards.
Hamilton captures BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year honors after leading the naton in goals per game (1.50), assists (13) and points per game (4.30). The sophomore leads the BIG EAST in all three offensvie categories with 15 goals, 13 assists and 43 assists.
Van den noort claimed Co-Freshman of the Year accolades after scoring four goals, adding seven assists in her first season in Storrs. The Baricum, Netherlands native led all BIG EAST freshman with her seven helpers.
UConn placed three players on the All-BIG EAST First Team and three on the All- BIG EAST Second Team.Â
Along with Hamilton, Kourtney Kennedy and Jessica Dembrowksi landed on the first team while Cheyenne Sprecher and Lindsay Dickinson joined van den noort on the second team.
Dembrowski earned first team status after ranking ninth in the BIG EAST with six goals, tied for fifth with seven assists and ranked seventh with 19 points.
Kennedy scored three goals and added one assist while anchoring the UConn back line. The Watertown, Mass native helped the defense earn six shutouts.
Sprecher lands on the second team after leading the league with a 0.95 goals against average, six shutouts and second in the league with a .778 save percentage.
Dickinson rounds out the UConn All-Conference performers with her addition on the second team. Dickson chipped in a goal on the season while helping out the UConn defense.
The Huskies enter the BIG EAST Championship as the No. 1 seed after securing the BIG EAST regular season title. UConn will face Temple on Thursday, April 22 at 1 p.m.
