4/3/2021 4:26:00 PM | Men's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Sophomore Moussa Wade notched his team-leading second goal of the season Saturday afternoon, but the UConn (1-6-1, 0-6-1 BIG EAST) men's soccer dropped a 5-1 decision to the second-ranked Georgetown Hoyas at Shaw Field.
UConn fired off five shots with four on-goal – three of those coming in the second stanza. Wade garnered two of the five Husky attempts, putting home the lone UConn goal of the game at the 67:07 mark off an assist from Jayden Reid, denying the Hoya shutout bid. Freshman Maxwell De Bodene and Ben Awashie produced the other two shots that were on target. In goal, senior Jahmali Waite recorded six saves.
Georgetown jumped out to a two-goal lead less than 15 minutes in and never looked back. They opened the game scoring just 55 seconds into the match, then added another at the 12:23 mark. The Hoyas tacked on three more to their total in the second, getting goals in the 50', 57', and 64' to increase the advantage to five.
