STORRS, Conn. – The UConn women's track team had a split squad competing on Saturday with athletes down in Tampa at the South Florida Invitational at USF and some down state at the Wilton Wright Invitational at Southern Connecticut State.
The USF meet was unscored but UConn came away with a win in the hammer throw and a new school record in the pole vault. At SCSU, the Huskies finished in second place with a partial team competing in a seven team field. UConn won five events on the day.
"Another strong performance by the women's team today," commented Associate Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Rich Miller. "Across the board was great to see our Huskies compete today. Everyone was aggressive and building a base to improve on."
"Chanell led the way improving on last week's performance," said Miller. "She is starting to get in a competitive rhythm. Great to see Emma Chee set a new outdoor school record today in the pole vault and freshman Zayin Roe, take a big step forward with a lifetime best in the triple jump."
