UConn Athletics Reinstates Women’s Rowing Program

STORRS, Conn. - Following additional review of its responsibilities under Title IX, the University of Connecticut has reinstated its women's rowing program and will continue to support the team as part of its Division I portfolio for at least the next two years.
The Huskies recently completed their first season competing as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association and will continue as a CAA member for the foreseeable future.
"I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity to continue to coach the rowing team as we proudly represent UConn and the Division of Athletics," said head coach Jen Sanford. "There is a tremendous amount of enthusiasm from the current team. The coaches are excited to get back into recruiting future Huskies who will be a part of the long-term success of our program both on and off the water. Go Huskies!"
During the next two years, UConn will conduct a more detailed assessment of the costs associated with possible program upgrades and work to secure the potential long-term reinstatement of the rowing program.
