FH Picked First, Four Huskies Preseason All-Conference

NEW YORK - The UConn field hockey team has been picked as the preseason favorite in the BIG EAST Conference heading into the fall season, as voted on by the league's coaches.
The Huskies have won nine-straight BIG EAST regular season championships beginning the streak in 2021. Four Huskies earned preseason All-Conference nods with Kourtney Kennedy, Claire Jandewerth, Abby Gooderham and Jessica Dembrowski all receiving recognition.
Dembrowski returns for her fifth-year after an All-American campaign in the spring of 2021. The graduate student was First Team All-BIG EAST with 19 points in 14 games including six goals and seven assists.Â
Fellow grad student Kourtney Kennedy earned BIG EAST First Team honors in the spring as an anchor in the back that helped UConn secure 11 shutouts in 14 games.Â
The German product, Jandewerth, is coming off an eight-goal campaign in the spring that ranked second on the team and was fourth with 18 points on the season.
Gooderham rejoins the Huskies this fall after staying home in England for the 2020-21 academic year due to the Covid-19 virus. She received All-BIG EAST second team honors in 2019 after producing eight goals and nine assists for the Huskies. Her eight goals and 25 points both ranked third on the team.
UConn is set to kick off the 2021 fall season on Friday, August 27 at Northwestern at 1 p.m.
