FH Completes Incoming Class of 2025

STORRS, Conn. – The UConn field hockey has completed the signing of five newcomers to the Class of 2025. Madi Herb, Sophia Ugo signed their national letters of intent back in February and since then Madison DiPietro, Nanne Eijkman and Addy Leonhartt have added joined the Huskies entering the 2021 season.
Herb joins the Huskies from Wilson High School in West Lawn, Pa. The forward played four years for head coach Kim Underwood and was a 2019 First Team All-State and All-County performer after leading her team to a PIAA 3AAA State Championship. She also earned 2018 Second Team All-State accolades and was named two-time All-Division during her high school career. Herb also landed on Max Field Hockey Top 50 Player list. She also competed in track, setting the Wilson school record in the 300M hurdles (44.49) earning All-County honors in the event. She also captured All-Division accolades in the 400M, 100M Hurdles and 4x100M.
Head coach Paul Caddy continues to bring in international talent by bringing in Ugo from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She played two years for Gabriel Minadeo at Saint Mary of the Hills School. She is a team captain in 2020 and just participated in U16 Buenos Aires team in National Argentinian Tournament in 2019. She was the top scorer for U16 team in 2018 and ranked second on the U14 team in 2017. Ugo is a two-time Player of the Year for San Patricio Hockey Club in 2017 and 2016.
DiPietro is a transfer from Boston University and played in five matches and made four starts during the spring 2021 season. She notched one assist during the campaign.
The incoming transfer was a two-time MVC Player of the Year at Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Mass and was named to MAX Field Hockey Top 50 list. She finished her high school career with 113 career points and was recognized as a MVC All-Conference First Team member all four seasons. DiPietro also was honored with the 2018 Eagle Tribune Player of the Year and was a three-time All-Star
Eijkman was a member of the Dutch U15 National Team. As a team captain, helped her team win school championship in 2016 and reach the school finals in 2017 and 2018.
Leonhartt comes to UConn from Sussex Academy in Georgetown, Del. As a team in captain in 2020, helped lead team to first playoff appearance in school history. During her high school career she took home 2020 First Team All-State honors along with being a two-time First Team All-Conference member. She was recognized as her team's MVP in both 2017 & 2018.
